Didsbury food market to become regular event

Manchester Markets, the council’s arm responsible for promoting the city’s specialist markets, has decided that the Didsbury Food Market should become a regular event.

The first food market took place last month during the Didsbury Festival and was a roaring success. Hundreds of people turned up to shop at the huge array of independent, local food suppliers who had stalls selling everything from coffee and fudge to fresh fish, bread and fruit.

The Food Market will take place on every second Saturday of the month, with the next one happening on Saturday 10 July. It’s located by Didsbury Library.

Didsbury and West Didsbury already boast an impressive range of independent retail businesses on their high streets. The food market will build on the area’s existing reputation as a good place to shop for those looking beyond the ubiquitous chainstores.
