Police are still hunting a car driver who threatened and assaulted a cyclist in Longsight two months ago.
The road rage incident happened at 6.25pm on Wednesday 26 January. The 33-year-old cyclist was pedalling along St John’s Road in Longsight when a man in a black BMW got out of his car and grabbed him by the throat while shouting abuse at him.
The man then got back into the BMW, which was either a three or five series, and drove off.
The cyclist was wearing a video headcam and was able to capture the incident. Police officers have now released the footage of the attack in an effort to identify the driver.
The BMW driver is described as white, about 50 years old, between 5ft 8in and 5ft 10in tall and of medium build. He is described as having short brown hair but being bald on top.
The cyclist was not physically injured but was left shaken.
Police Constable Matt Dixon, of the Longsight and Ardwick Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT), said: “This is as clear an example of road rage as you are likely to see and we are working hard to identify the person responsible.
“The victim has every right to be on the road and it is not acceptable that he has been targeted in this way.
“I want the driver, if he sees this appeal, to come forward and I also want to hear from anyone who knows who he is.”
Anyone with information is asked to call the NPT on 0161 856 4228, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
